Every year Thanksgiving rolls around and most families find themselves running to the store to get turkeys, stuffing, cranberries and pies. My family, on the other hand, runs to the store to get Christmas lights. Pulling on our plaid shirts and fuzzy boots, we get started on the annual exterior illumination of the Lane family house.
They say that baking is edible love, and that is exactly what my mom and I baked up today. What says love better than chocolate? Aren't they synonymous? It is always my favorite time when I am home with my parents, this morning I was able to capture some of the magic of chocolate chip cookies. Who knew there was this much beauty in the batter, equipment, and even clean up? Just goes to show that the more beauty is in the eye of the camera holder?
Ask any pilot how they started flying, and you'll hear a love story. That is exactly what happened with Nelson Krueger. Captain Krueger had an incredible career during his time as a pilot for TWA (Trans World Airlines). He started flying in his early teens and since that time Captain Krueger has lived stories to last a life time. He told me stories of flying the Pope on Shepard I, meeting Chuck Yeager, and his part in aiding the first female pilots at TWA who were starting their careers. (I mean how cool can you get?) ... what a wonderful career! After all this time, he still has the same passion for flight and the magic it brings with each take off. What started with a simple meet and greet, turned into a day I would never forget. Captain Krueger took me for a ride to see my campus from a whole new point of view. We took off on runway one at Lawrence Municipal Airport in a 172 Cessna glass cockpit, As for the rest of the flight, I will let the pictures do the talking. All I can say is thank you Captain Krueger, for a day I will never forget!
The Minnesota State Fair started back in 1859. Over the past 159 years, the number of people who attend each day has grown to over one million. With those growing crowds, Martha's Cookies distribution has also grown to over three million cookies a DAY. Being able to attend the Minnesota State Fair wasn't only wonderful because of the three million cookies I could have eaten (trust me I tried) but also the millions of wonderful photos waiting to be taken. There was beauty and wonder around every corner just waiting to be captured. Dontcha know?
Dan is an United Kingdom native pursuing his dream in the United States of being a professional golfer. I went into this photoshoot trying to capture the essence of that dream and the dedication he has to it. I seldom meet someone that has not only has the insight into what they want to do, but also has the passion and determination to follow it through.
During the day these photos where taken, the ground was sopping wet due to heavy rain hitting the area all week. Despite the unrelenting rain showers Dan went out to practice anyway. After a long (and wet) two hours, you can see the dedication and hard work that he puts into making his dream a reality.
A week after this photos were taken, Dan placed Second at the Bobcat North Dakota Open at Fargo Country Club. (Go Dan Go!)
